CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE ADVISORY BOARD OF DIRECTORS

About Nada

Nada is a package-free grocery delivery service on a mission to connect people to just food, championing a community food system by linking buyers to suppliers & offering healthy, local and unpackaged products and services. Our vision is healthy people = healthy planet: where people link their food choices to the health of themselves and the environment. We are seeking values-aligned advisory board members to bring their skills and experience to our next phase of growth. Beyond financial scale, joining our team represents a remarkable opportunity to scale our impact - reducing waste throughout the food supply chain, supporting a more just and equitable food system, and using business as a force for good.

Our current industrial food system is not broken; it was designed this way, with inherent inequalities that benefit few. Nada works to redesign this system and advocates for a more equitable, just, and regenerative food future. Throughout our supply chain, we educate our community on the importance of food justice, supply chain transparency, fair labor practices, environmental impacts, and human health. As a Certified B-Corporation and 1% for the Planet partner, our partnerships allow us to drive multi-stakeholder systems change while supporting those advocating for equity. Nada's food system work has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Forbes, and was most recently recognized as 1% for the Planet's Business Changemaker of the Year.

Nada has always been a food systems hub and we continue to move our community events, supplier features, and storytelling online, while bringing more transparency to our supply chain at a time when it is more important than ever to support our local food system. Nada has recently pivoted from retail to e-commerce and plans to grow by expanding both our inventory and product diversity, and geographic delivery areas throughout the lower mainland of British Columbia.  Our team of 30 is poised to grow, with key roles and systems in place to scale our impact. Nada works closely with several non-profit organizations to offer meaningful work for those with barriers to employment and also partners with more than 30 local grassroots environmental organizations tackling climate, conservation, and food security issues. Dive into our three-year vision here to learn more about what a just food system means to us!

Are You Who We’re Looking For?

Nada’s board members play an important role in helping Nada realize our vision, mission, and mandate, while acting as ambassadors for both our social impact company and our core values. The advisory board is not a formal Board of Directors and does not have fiduciary responsibility for the venture but helps to ensure that Nada remains accountable to all goals and objectives and remains true to its mission, vision, and values. As part of our growth plans, we are seeking prospective candidates who can lend their skills and experiences to our organization, particularly in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience leading high-growth organizations in the grocery, retail, or food industries
  • Expertise in delivery, distribution, fulfillment, and warehousing
  • E-commerce and digital marketing
  • Food security, local food systems, and traditional ecological knowledge
  • Fundraising

Nada values and is committed to inclusion and diversity and we especially encourage Black, Indigenous, people of colour, diverse ability and gender fluid individuals to apply. We welcome all applicants including but not limited to: BIPOC, visible minorities, all religions and ethnicities, persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA2S+ persons, and all others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. If you require special accommodations at any stage of the application process, please indicate this in your cover letter.

Time Commitment

Advisory board members may spend up to 8 hours a month preparing for and attending meetings (remote), strategic planning sessions, participating in director development, and attending community events. Flexibility is required for meetings that take place during business hours, nights and/or weekends. Members of the advisory board serve in their individual capacity for a fixed term of one year, with the possibility of extension. Before submitting your nomination, carefully consider the required responsibilities and time commitment. In recognition of your time commitment, Nada will be offering stock options and our staff discount.
